Minimally Invasive Surgery Eliminates Pain from Bumps, Bunions, and Corns Without a Trip to the Hospital

Many people live with pain because they are not aware of the new surgical procedures that can help them. Those who suffer from painful foot conditions are forced to curtail their activities, forego exercise, social plans with friends and family, and sometimes give up stimulating jobs in favor of sedentary work. The main reason for this is fear. People are afraid of surgery and hospitals. They worry that a large surgical procedure will put them out of commission, make them bedridden, require a long convalescence and chew up their sick leave.

With Minimal Incision (Minimally Invasive) Surgery, Patients are Able to Walk Right After Surgery!

Modern technology has given medicine the opportunity to forge ahead at a rapid rate making it easier to have physical ailments corrected. One such development is in the field of foot surgery and is called Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS). The other pioneering development is the use of the laser. With the use of specially-designed instruments, Dr. Worley can now perform a surgical procedure on your foot through a very small opening. Developed over thirty years ago by pioneers in the field of foot surgery, MIS is now a successful way of surgically correcting painful conditions such as:

  • Selected bunions
  • Bone spurs
  • Nerve growths and neuromas
  • Selected hammertoes
  • Heel pain
  • Painful bone bumps
  • Corns (which are actually caused by small bone spurs)

A Hospital Visit Is Unnecessary

Before, surgery required an inpatient or outpatient hospital visit. Patients could anticipate a good deal of discomfort and a slow recovery. With Minimally Invasive Surgery, you can expect:

  • Few or no stitches
  • Less pain
  • No casts or crutches

A Convenient Office Procedure

The following diagrams show the difference in incision size:

Some People Can't Believe They've Had Surgery At All

Because many MIS procedures are so comfortable, some patients can't believe they haven't had surgery at all and tend to overdo it. As with any surgery, your surgeon will give you post-operative instructions that may include:

  • Limited activity for 2-3 days
  • Baths instead of showers to keep the incision dry
  • A surgical shoe to protect the foot

Why Insurance Policies Like MIS

Minimal Surgical Surgery carries much less risk of complications and can be completed in our office. Thus, it is a cost-saving procedure and is readily approved by most insurance companies (except HMOs, of course), including Medicare. If you have no insurance or you've been getting an HMO run-around, we can make EZ financial arrangements. We want you to have the care you need.

When You Need Dr. Worley's Help

Dr. Ronald Worley is one of a select group of foot surgeons who are board certified to perform foot surgery. He also has special credentials in Minimally Invasive Surgery and laser surgery. Minimally invasive procedures are now used for abdominal, chest, knee, and ankle surgery. Dr. Worley uses MIS when advisable. His goal, as well as the staff's, is to make your experience a positive and comfortable one. With this in mind, his practice offers:

  • Comfortable anesthesia: Many patients fear foot surgery not because of the procedure, but because of the anesthesia needle. We spray a quick freeze on the skin, then normal numbing of the area can then be done. This is much more comfortable than the usual methods of local anesthesia.
  • Second opinions: If you are considering foot surgery, it is reasonable for you to investigate the possibility of Minimally Invasive Surgery. While MIS cannot be used for all corrections, it can be offered for many common problems.
  • Complimentary consultation: Dr. Worley is conservative in his approach. He makes liberal use of educational material and extensive explanations, and leaves the final decision about treatment up to his patients. As a courtesy, Dr. Worley offers a free consultation for patients considering MIS, so that all options can be explored.
